TONY DE ZORZI SHARES HIS TOP 5 FITNESS TIPS

Tony de Zorzi has been on fire in recent months, showcasing his exceptional form. From his unwavering focus to his remarkable batting skills, and even making his Proteas debut, it's truly astonishing to think that this sporting prodigy is just getting started!

As a top-order batter for Western Province, de Zorzi has grown immensely in confidence with both bat and ball in hand. This was evident when he smashed the highest individual first-class score by a batsman at Newlands during day two of Western Province's 4-Day Match Series against the Free State Knights. The 25-year-old's unbeaten 304 off 381 balls, including 28 fours and seven sixes, stands as a testament to his character and sheer strength.

With his dominating presence, the stylish left-hander has taken the cricket scene by storm. It's no wonder that many people turn to him for tips and tricks on how to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We sat down with the sporting legend, and asked him to share his top 5 fitness tips for our readers.

“On days when training seems like a struggle, I refer back to the positives of a good routine, because then it’s just habit you don’t even have to think about it”, says Tony.

TIP ONE: SLEEP IS VITAL

Tony: I used to take it for granted, but it massively impacts my mood, my receptiveness and reactions; and it’s actually vital for weight loss and muscle repair.

TIP TWO: FIND A DIET THAT SUITS YOUR LIFESTYLE

Tony: If it’s too restrictive or unrealistic you won’t be able to maintain it. Do not starve yourself! Find something that works for you and your body, we are all different with different needs.

TIP THREE: BE CAREFUL WITH SOCIAL MEDIA

Tony: If you have a healthy relationship with social media then great... But always remember that no one shows the bad days, or off days, or the days where they gave up. Be careful with your comparisons.

TIP FOUR: WEIGHTS ARE GREAT

Tony: Whatever program you’re on, I think weights make a massive difference with your muscle mass and more importantly, all the healthy hormones your body produces when you do those type of workouts – so be sure to include some type of weight into your workout regime.

TIP FIVE: TELL SOMEONE YOU TRUST, YOUR GOALS WITH FITNESS

Tony: This makes you accountable. No one wants to be the person that says a lot of things but does not back it up. This also serves as positive encouragement and reinforcement.

As for a pre-workout go-to snack, Tony opts for a banana and coffee.

“I like sticking to a routine, even in downtime as it allows you to remain disciplined”, Tony ends off.
